The Lucky Ones
My love
how lucky those
currently in your presence
are
to have you already
Some will lose you
distance birthed from growth
whether it will be you
that changes
or them
is unknown
perhaps it will be you both
Some will stay
initial greetings morphed into
a depth deep enough to remain
when I arrive
I will learn their names
As I will learn
the fluidity of the way
in which you exist
I will lean into internal
crevices
and discover what’s beneath
the surface of you
an archeological,
philosophical dig
How lucky they are
to already have you
I am jealous of the
time and space
life granted them to close
I anticipate
the hour, the minute, the day
when we are finally
no longer far away
